CLAE SPRING 2009 COLLECTION

Some first styles from the Clae Spring 2009 Collection have been released. The Cousteau, the Whitman and Russell come each in a subtle all black colorway. The Whitman features some patent leather accents, the Cousteau contrasting white stitching and the Russell comes with two white eyelets on the top, thus each coming with subtle details, perfectly matching the footwear style.

EASTWEST STUDIOS BY PHILIPPE STARCK

The leading soundware developer eastwest recently purchased the historic cello recording studios in hollywood, california for their new headquarters. the legendary studio was used by the likes of frank sinatra, the beach boys, madonna, the rolling stones and many more. eastwest commissioned designer philippe stark to renovate the space, which is now the only studio in the world to offer, recording, editing, software development, marketing and distribution under one roof. stark’s aim was to create a series of spaces that ranged in size, to make the artists comfortable. he restored the historic elements of the building and focused on allowing the space to encourage creativity. the newbuilding features a grand lobby, VIP guest suite, a number of artist lounges and kitchen. in addition there is office space for the studio manager, software engineers as well as a tech shop and conference area. stark explains the inspiration behind the design, ‘I listen to music while I'm planning out my designs and I feel that my inspiration comes from the quality of the artist's music, so sound is very important to me in this space… hopefully it's my small contribution to some great music in the future.’

international firm graft architects have sent in images of some of their latest projects. they designed their bird island project as part of the bird island green home competition held by the YTL group. located in sentul park, kuala lumpur, malaysia 'bird island' is an urban renewal development. for the project graft architects have designed a sustainable villa made with a silicone coveredglass fabric. the skin twists and turns along the facade changing its transparency and guiding the view of the residents out to the landscape and views of the area. the tent structure reflects sunlight and prevents direct sunlight to heat the main structure. grey water fro sinks and showers will be able to be reused as part of the water drainage system they have incorporated.
